Does anyone know where I can find a jig for steel slot-head jigs?

do you want a drilling jig or a slotting jig?

stew mac sells a drilling jig which will do both steel and classical.

the lmi jig needs modification and auxillary bushings to both drill and slot steel strings; poor product planning on their part.

I would like to find both. Agree LMI could have easily made both at same time.

i did suggest to them that they fix the problem but i wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to do anything.

As if he didn't have enough to do, I bet Mark Kett can do one and even the ramps. It may be special order, but he could do it and it would be top of the line. He built a beautiful 12fret slot head neck for me and was outstanding. Heck, I may have him do one for me. He is a busy guy though and may take some time for him. I would go with the Stew Mac one before the LMI one though.

just had a look at the luthier tool site -- they do a combination jig to route and drill both steel and classical slot heads, as well as single jigs to route and drill steel or classical slot heads. they are expensive, but offer apparent advantages oover the lmi or stew mac offerings.

has anyone tried any of them? perhaps if so you could give us a review!

I just had a look at those myself. Very nice looking jigs. Also, very expensive. I guess you get what you pay for.

Everyone, some of you may know that I will be making specialized guitar jigs soon, and this jig is one that I plan on making. It will be a combination classical and steel string, and have the ability drill the side holes for the classical and steel. I would want it to be adjustable, so I will have to work the details out. I may ask some of you to do quality assurance on it before I ship it out. It is probably 3 to 4 months out. Also, mine will have very reasonable pricing. I'm not into price gouging, and at the same time the jig will be the highest quality jig on the market. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again to all. Does he make jig for steel tuner holes?

Heres a jig for slotting classical headstocks I made a while ago.Probably took around 3 hours to make.Paid back by the second set of slots I made.
